If you have Diabetes, this program can help you...
- Develop a healthy meal plan and eating habits
- Improve your blood sugar control
- Lose weight
- Lower your cholesterol
However, it is critical that you work with your physician throughout your participation in this program. You will need to familiarize him or her with the program and discuss the lifestyle changes you are making.
You will be learning the proper portions to eat and how to eat when you are hungry. You will most likely be eating smaller portions than you are accustomed to eating. It may be necessary for your healthcare provider to adjust your insulin or medications to your new food volume intake.
The program will work best for you, if you can eat only when you are hungry. Many of our participants do not get hungry for their first meal until 10:30 in the morning or later. If you are taking insulin or another medication that needs to be taken with your meal, you may want to check with your healthcare provider to see if it can be taken at the time you eat.
